Voter Registration Deadlines
- Online registration deadline: May 4th, 2026

Mail-In/Absentee Ballot Request Deadline
- Applications for mail-in or absentee ballots must be RECEIVED by May 12th, 2026 at 5 p.m.
- Completed ballots must be received by May 19th, 2026 at 8 p.m.
- Election Day: Polls open on May 19th, 2026 at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Voter Registration Information
You can register to vote four ways
- In-person: Deliver your registration to the County Voter Registration Office
- By mail: Mail your ballot to your County Voter Registration Office. The registration must be received by May 4th, 2026.
- Online: Register to vote at the following website: https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/VoterRegistrationApplication.aspx
- At various Government locations:
- Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
- State offices that provide public assistance and services to persons with disabilities
- Armed Forces Recruitment Centers
- County Clerk of Orphans’ Court offices, including each Marriage License Bureau
- Area Agencies on Aging
- Centers for Independent Living
- County Mental Health and Intellectual Disability offices
- Student disability services offices of the State System of Higher Education
- Offices of Special Education
- DA Complementary Paratransit offices
- Any agency using the Compass application
You must register by May 4th, 2026 to vote on Election Day for the May 19th, 2026 Primary Elections.

Who is eligible to vote
You can vote on Election Day, May 19th 2026, if…
- You have been a citizen of the United States since April 19th, 2026 or earlier
- You have been a resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which you want to register and vote since April 19th, 2026 or earlier
- You were born May 19th, 2008 or earlier
What to bring to polling locations
Pennsylvania only requires identification to vote for Voters who are voting at a specific polling location for the first time.
Acceptable forms of ID include:
- Pennsylvania’s driver’s license or PennDOT ID card
- ID issued by any Commonwealth agency
- ID issued by the U.S. Government
- U.S. Passport
- U.S. Armed Forces ID
- Student or Employee ID
- Non-photo ID issued by the Commonwealth or by the U.S. Government
- Firearm permit
- Current utility bill
- Current bank statement
- Paycheck
- Government check
How to vote by mail
In Pennsylvania, registered voters can request either a no-excuse mail-in ballot or an absentee ballot
- Mail-in ballot: Any registered voter may apply to vote by mail in the next election. You do not need to provide a reason for why you want to vote by mail ballot.
- Absentee ballot: If you will be out of your municipality on Election Day or if you have a disability or illness that prevents you from going to your polling place on Election Day, you can request this ballot type, which requires you to provide a reason for why you want to vote by mail
Deadlines
- 5 p.m. May 12: Your application for a mail-in or absentee ballot must be received by your county election office
- 8 p.m. May 19: Your county election office must receive your completed mail ballot by this time. A postmark by 8 p.m. May 19 is not sufficient.

How to Request a Mail-In or Absentee ballot:
Online
- Registered voters can apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot online with a valid PA driver’s license, PennDOT-issued photo ID, or the last 4 digits of their Social Security number.
- Military or overseas civilian voters can find information here on how to obtain a mail ballot.
- Be sure to provide an email address with your application so you will receive ballot status notifications.
In person
- Once your county’s ballot is finalized and available, you may apply in person at your county election office or other officially designated location and promptly receive your mail ballot.
By mail

Registered voters who can’t make it to their polling place on Election Day because of illness, disability, work, or travel can apply for an absentee ballot using this form:
You can also request a paper application by:
- Contacting your county election office directly,
- Emailing the Department of State, or
- Calling the Department at 1-877-VOTESPA.
Step 2: Mail your application.
Your county election office must RECEIVE your paper application at least one week before the next election.

Vote in Person by Mail Ballot
- You can vote in person by mail ballot in one trip to your county election office or other officially designated site. Once your county’s ballots are ready, you can go to your elections office, request your mail ballot, receive it, complete it, and submit it all in the same visit.
Request an emergency absentee ballot
- If you have an emergency–such as an unexpected illness, disability, or a last-minute absence from your municipality on Election Day–you can request an emergency absentee ballot after 5 p.m. on the Tuesday before the election.
- You can submit your emergency absentee ballot application to your county election office any time before 8 p.m. on Election Day. Your completed absentee ballot is due at 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Election Day Voting Information

- All polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
- If you are in line by 8 p.m. (when polls close), you will be allowed to cast your vote. Do not leave the line.
